Sustainable Aquaculture
We grow all of our premium Copepods and Phytoplankton at the base of the Rocky Mountains in our state-of-the-art aquaculture facility. As hobbyists ourselves, we understand the importance of knowing what goes into your aquarium — and even more importantly, what stays out. That’s why we run all of our water through an industrial RODI system before mixing in Fritz Aquatics synthetic sea salt. There are no fish or copper parts anywhere in our facility so you never have to worry about introducing anything unwanted into your aquarium. We proudly sell premium live Copepods & Nutritious Phytoplankton with no harmful chemicals or preservatives.
Committed To Education
AlgaeBarn believes in the importance of educating children about our oceans. We are a proud sponsor of the Stratton Elementary School Coral Reef Project.
Under the guidance of Brandon Rutherford, this third-grade class of young aquarists maintains 12 saltwater aquariums containing live fish and coral. The kids learn about all aspects of aquarium husbandry, ecology, and microbiology through hands-on experience in keeping their aquariums clean and healthy. Moving the Industry Forward
Biota Aquarium and AlgaeBarn are excited to offer captive-bred Fish. These fish are a hardier, sustainable alternative to wild-caught specimens.
Biota Aquarium Mandarins, like their wild-caught counterparts, will feed primarily on live copepods. They also accept a variety of frozen foods like Artemia and Brine Shrimp allowing you to feed them a varied diet for optimum health. We are very excited to be offering these fish for sale on our site in the near future.
